Graduate Leads UNO Career Office
Perone Moves Up


Michelle Perone, who has served as assistant director of Career Exploration and Outreach (CEO), has been named director.



The School of Communication alumna has assumed all the managerial and operational responsibilities of the department. CEO will also now report to the Office of Student and Academic Affairs. Career Exploration and Outreach will continue to be housed in Eppley 211.


The UNO College of Business Administration (CBA) has named former CEO Director Bill Swanson as executive director of the Executive Masters of Business Administration (EMBA) degree program.


School Adds Visiting Instructors
Kidd and Rempfer Hired To Teach High-demand Courses


Mary Anna Kidd has signed a one-year contract with the School of Communication to teach small group communication, business and professional speaking and interviewing.


Kidd is completing her doctorate at the University of Kansas.

The School has launched a national search to fill the speech communication line.

Meanwhile, Alumna Kate Rempfer has been hired to teach First Year Experience (FYE) and public speaking courses. Additionally, she will be a Speech Center consultant.

Excellence in Action


Chris Allen will moderate a Saturday, August 9, research paper session at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) national conference in Chicago: Serving the 21st Century News Audience. The papers examine young adult audiences, news recall, National Public Radio and network news research.

Shereen Bingham, assistant director, is on the National Communication Association (NCA) program with the paper: Students’ Perceptions of Their Connectedness in the Community College Basic Public Speaking Course. Bingham is collaborating with former School faculty member Hollis Glaser.

School of Communication Director Jeremy Lipschultz was a guest on The Tom Becka Show on KFAB (1110 AM) and quoted in the Chicago Tribune earlier last week following the FCC ruling to toss out an indecency fine against CBS following the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show.

1. Mav Solutions, the School’s student public relations firm, continues to add paying clients. The group will be working to help fund its trip to the national PRSSA meeting in Detroit this fall.
